It was terrible back then -- imagine tv trying to keep up with series w/nothing but gays/lesbians & Trans while entertaining your family at nite! If this was rotten -- that is horrifying! How could any society w/morals put that on display for a family w/young children!!

This was a really excellent movie, we done, well written and well acted. I remember this when it first broadcast. It was chillingly realistic. This is exactly how such a war would start----first one size escalates, then the other side escalates. Politicians afraid to back down because it would affect their power. What is especially frightening, as shown in this movie, a full nuclear war could easily be stated by accident, by one itchy trigger finger. One can only hope that cooler heads would prevail.

Unbelievable. Peter Sellers is the modern man's psyche. I always thought he was a genius but this performance was terrifying. Why he didn't win an Oscar will always be a mystery. So many awesome actors in this. I understand, however, why I have never seen this before.

Finally found it. I remember watching this on TV in Canada when I was 10. The part I remember the most vividly was when they showed the radiation effects on the woman. Back then it scared me so bad I remember burying my face into the sofa cushions. It still freaks me out to this day.
